Richard Rees

Richard's first encounter with greyhounds and Burhill kennels was in his school days when working for his grandad at weekends and during school holidays, and started full time for his father in 1986. Richard took over the trainers licence from his father in 2008 and has already trained two classic finalists, Ravello Drive an unlucky 2nd in the 2008 Oaks and Victoria Falls winner of the 2011 Grand National. Richard has acquired an immense wealth of experience and knowledge in training greyhounds from two of the sports great masters.


Nick Larson

Nick is the most recent member of the team, joining with the transition from Wimbledon to Hove Stadium. Nick has worked within the greyhound industry for a number of years and so is a great asset to our team.

Kennel Hand

Dani Rees

Dani is Richards daughter and runs the administration side of the business. She also helps out at the kennel and track when needed and is a keen follower of the racing as well as owning some greyhounds in the kennel.

Anne Mahon

Anne started at Burhill kennels with Phil Rees Snr in 1965 and has handled two Derby winners, Silver Mutt in 1976 with Phil Rees Snr and Pagan Swallow in 1985 with Philip Rees, including numerous classic finalists and winners. Anne's expertise, total commitment and loyalty at Burhill kennels with the Rees family is unprecedented having gained a life's time knowledge and experience in greyhound training from Richard's grandad Phil Snr and father Philip. Anne continues to be a major part of the on-going success at Burhill kennels with Richard.

Christine Carter

Christine joined Burhill kennels in 2006, Christine provides great care and welfare of all the greyhounds at Burhill kennels where she continues to learn the knowledge from Anne and Richard and regularly travels with Richard open racing.

Kennel Hand

Jackie Rees

Jackie joined Burhill kennels in 1981 where Philip took her under his 'wing'. Married to Richard, she played a major role in the success of Colorado Joker winning the 1996 Springbok prior to taking 'time out' to raise their three children: Dani, Cally and Charlie. Jackie now works part time at the kennel.
